Use GT23 Precoat Leather Dye Foundation to prepare suspect leathers prior to colour dye application. This product is aimed at solving problems with leather were the original manufacturer’s colour comes off easily and so does your repair, which can particularly be the case on piping and cushions. GT23 Precoat is a water-based solution that “melts” the original factory sealant, turning it slightly sticky which allows our SCUFFmaster dye bonds and adhere to it better. Adding 10% Precoat to SCUFFmaster dyes increases adhesion even more.
Apply the Precoat to a clean cloth and rub it into the leather, creases and cracks. Dry it to a slightly tacky finish before applying the colour dye. Finish off with an Aerosol Sealant.
This product is excellent for worn and disfigured leather producing a great surface to start applying the dye. Without it the dye is patchy and varies in colour.
